keel in one line: an open-source (Apache-2.0) engine for auditable, Shariah-compliant spot trading — eighteen un-overridable rails, evidence gates before any rule goes live, and an honest-results posture: no shipped rule family is net-positive at the taker fee actually paid, and the front page says so. CodeGate Software builds it; keeltrading.com tours it in English, العربية and Français.

• keel serve — keel now opens in your browser: a read-only view of everything the console shows, plus a first-run checklist for what a deployment actually needs.
• A setup surface that cannot spend. Credentials can live in your OS keychain (.env still wins), market data fetches as a background job, and attestations and promotions happen from a page instead of a terminal. The write surface is built so it cannot arm a rule, release funds, or spend anything.
• WAL. The database now runs in write-ahead-logging mode: watching a live fetch no longer blocks the engine writing it.
• A double-clickable macOS app (arm64 + x86_64) and a Windows zip — see the honest note below.

The honest notes, unchanged by the new chrome:

• The desktop builds are not code-signed. macOS and Windows will both warn. Signing certificates cost real money (Apple $99/yr, Microsoft about $120/yr) and keel has no budget for them; docs/desktop-install.md walks the one-time bypass step by step, and the wheels path triggers no warning at all. Every artifact carries a per-platform checksum (SHA256SUMS-*) and a build-provenance attestation you can verify: gh attestation verify <file> --repo CodeGateSoftware/keel.
• Installing safely: download the wheels and install keel_trader by path — never pip install keel; that name on PyPI belongs to an unrelated project. keel versions (not --version) is the check that all six distributions agree.
• Paper is still the first gate. The paper profile is free and educational — simulated fills, no funded account, no trading credentials; the only key it needs is a free, read-only market-data key. Live stays deliberately harder to reach: attestations, the promotion gauntlet, typed human confirmations.
